On May 9th, 2019, it was announced that America has achieved over two million commercial and residential solar installations powering more than twelve million American homes.
According to the Solar Energy Industries Association, this milestone comes just three years after the industry completed its one millionth installation, a feat that took forty years to accomplish.
“The rapid growth in the solar industry has completely reshaped the energy conversation in this country,” said Abigail Ross Hopper, SEIA president and CEO. “This seventeen billion industry is on track to double again in five years, and we believe that the 2020s will be the decade that solar becomes the dominant new form of energy generation.”
As founder and CEO of Envirosolar and Intelli Smart Homes, Abe Issa was recognized with multiple Stevie® Awards in the ENTREPRENEUR OF THE YEAR - ENERGY and TECH INNOVATOR OF THE YEAR – SERVICES award categories in The 17th Annual American Business Awards®today.
The Solar Industry Is One Of The Fastest Growing Job Markets In The U.S.
Rhone Resch, the president and CEO of the Solar Energy Industries Association (SEIA), says “Solar energy continues to be one of the fastest-growing industries in the United States.”
To put this growth in numbers:
As of 2015, the solar industry employs nearly 175,000 Americans.
The solar industry adds more than $15 billion a year into the U.S. economy.
There are over 6,000 solar companies in the U.S., spread across all 50 states.
36% of all new electric capacity added in 2014 was from solar.
The U.S. now has over 17,500 MW of cumulative solar electric capacity, which is enough to provide power to over 3.5 million average U.S. homes.
With Envirosolar Power Will Continue To Grow As The Leading Solar Energy and Smart Home Installation Companies
“We will keep leading this fight,” says Issa. “The fossil fuel industry is subsidized in America right now. But their time is coming to an end.” The IMF found that direct and indirect subsidies for coal, oil and gas in the U.S. reached $649 billion in 2015. Pentagon spending that same year was $599 billion.
“The great part is that renewable power just overtook coal for the first time in history,” says Issa. “We are the number one solar company in Texas, the number eight rooftop solar company in America, and the second fastest growing company according to Inc. Magazine. With over twenty billion Watts of solar added to the US gris and over thirty million kWh generated per year by our customer base, we are ready to add millions more installations across the US.”
